Sunday's Stoplight Sightings

I may be a homeschooler, but I do get out of the house quite a bit.  One thing that has always amused me while driving around town is just the random things I notice people doing at stoplights.  Even for me, I find stoplights are a great opportunity to check a text message (for shame), check my teeth in the mirror, turn to talk to a kid eye-to-eye or reach something that fell off a seat.

So today, after another random sighting (I'll tell you about it in a moment), I thought about sharing some of these bits of people watching entertainment here in my blog.  Sunday's seem to make sense for this theme day since the term "Sunday Drivers," is common and besides, this whole topic doesn't really go along with the theme of my blog, so why not put it on a Sunday when barely anyone out there is reading this stuff anyway.  But I'll log my sightings throughout the week and share them on Sundays with you.

What's the weirdest thing you've seen someone doing at a stoplight?

Okay, so today, I was bringing pictures I printed up for my niece's school project, over to her house.  At the light at the major intersection between here and there (3:56pm), the driver in the turn lane next to me was wrestling with a package of new swimming goggles at the stoplight.  Eventually, he gave up and popped a piece of gum in his mouth.  Hmm.

  4. Yes, I second mom's comment. Be careful!!

A couple of years ago I was at a light when I heard some yelling. A girl in her car was at the adjacent stop and she was all upset yelling out to some guy walking away. Seemed like a lover's quarrel but it rattled me a bit. I know what it's like to feel super upset and desperate about a relationship situation! Though I hope I never find myself in her exact situation.

  5. Oh my! A few months ago, I was taking kids to lunch and we were driving down this busy road. We got to the stoplight and this guy got out of his car next to us and went to the car behind him and that guy got out and they started cussing at each other and acting super aggressive and we thought they were going to totally fight right there at the busy intersection.

I called 9-1-1 immediately. They actually had me give them the license plate numbers and everything. I don't know what happened from there. I was just worried they'd cause an accident or get run over. It was kind of freaky!

  6. And so you all know ... it's not like I'm really ogling people and making them mad ... I just happen to glance over and see something now and then. They probably don't even notice me.
