Accomplishments and Anticipation

I'm usually the lady still rushing around on Christmas Eve to finish up shopping for gifts.  But this year, I'm already 98% done and I still have a week!

I feel good.  I've been wrapping things as I get them, so that's pretty much done.  I just need to finish up a couple things for my nieces and I'm finished.  Seriously!

I shipped off the final out-of-town gifts today, so family members should be receiving those in a few days.  In time for Christmas anyway.

Where, oh where, are my Christmas cards from Snapfish?!  They haven't arrived yet.  I usually send about a hundred.  Last year, I sent zero because I just never got around to it.  So this year my goal is to send twenty.  But they need to get here first.  So hopefully tomorrow!

Okay, so I know, I know, none of this is in the true spirit of the season -- Jesus is the reason and all that -- but I also love giving gifts to my loved ones.  I love wrapping them and I love seeing all the pretty packages under our tree.  It's part of my joy of this season.

God made me this way.  So he totally knew what would happen in my head every December.

In other Christmas celebration types of stuff, the kids had their church performance, I took the kids who wanted to go to the Christmas Corral and we visited the Bugg Light Display as a family.  Christmas Eve pajamas per our tradition are on their way.  My camera is working and ready to take our annual photos before we rush off to Christmas Eve service.  Decorations are up.  Gifts are ready.

I think I can finally answer "YES!" to people making casual conversation at the stores who wonder if I'm ready for Christmas yet.  Do you get that question a lot, too?

Looking forward to watching the kids singing "Happy Birthday" to Jesus in a week, blowing out his birthday candle and then getting sick on chocolate and over-stimulated from new toys (okay, so I'm ready for them to go to bed once all that happens, too).  Can't wait to spend time as a family at home and with my sister, D, and four nieces joining us, our house should be buzzing with energy and good times.

What are some of your favorite Christmas seasonal activities in the days or weeks leading up to the day?

  1. I like baking, some wrapping (I get tired quickly) and seeing lights!

Thanks again for wrapping a gift for me. :D

  2. I like the singing, Christmas Caroles, church, the lights, the food and getting together with friends and family. I have NOT been very ready this year though!
