Scary Moment

C always calls me when he's on his way home from work. It's a 45-minute commute on the best days.  He's got a Blue Tooth hands-free device set up in his truck so he can chat about the day (or listen to me as I rattle off everything about mine).  It gives me a good sense about when he'll be home for the evening (so we can cram to finish up some of the housework) or if he has any suggestions or plans for dinner that I need to prepare for.

Today, he called me and as I sat there yammering on about random stuff, suddenly, he started hollering, "Whoaaaaaaaa!"

From all the noise coming over the phone, I couldn't tell what was going on and for a moment as the yelling continued, I wasn't sure if he'd rolled his truck off the side of the road or what.

So there I was screaming back at him, "What is happening?!  Are you okay?!"

When finally, he yells back, "I had a blow-out!"

That's the photo he sent me when he was safely pulled to the side of the road and waiting for AAA to arrive.

Thank God it wasn't worse than this.  Thank God he was able to pull safely off the highway to the shoulder.

The kids and I prayed together for his safety there on the side of the highway, for a spare in good shape and for fast assistance to arrive.

AAA told him they'd be there within the hour.  But five minutes after he called them, a big yellow tow truck arrived to save the day.  The driver of the truck said it was part of a federally-funded roadside assistance service provided as a courtesy to drivers stranded on the side of busy roads.  I've never heard of it.  I googled it and can't find anything about it.

But thanks to God, for sending dependable help so quickly.

And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.
