For all the times I've prayed for extra time to accomplish things or complained about not having enough time to get something done ... God heard my pleas. Once every four years, He responds to my cries with the gift of a whole extra day (except on centuries not divisible by four -- but I don't know if I'll be around for any of those).
Thank you, Lord!

Today is Tuesday
This was my only "day off" from my part-time childcare job (watching my nieces), so I thought I should take a moment to post something about the past few days...

Ok, So Neat!
I took Z to his audition today and while I have no update to give you on that (he said it went well) because we had to verbally agree not to disclose anything about the audition to protect the integrity of the film, I will write about the audition location. It was such a nice side-surprise to this day!

Wh-What?! Another Direction, Indeed
So today, I started a new part-time job. I'm now providing childcare for two of my little nieces. It's been a fun adventure so far, figuring out how to accomplish all that I try to do in a day with an infant and a preschooler in the mix. There were many reasons for taking on this extra job and the Lord has been blessing me all day with responses to the situation that give me a new enthusiasm and energy even though now I'm here at home (and taxiing about) with seven kids, not just five. Anyway, so far, it's going really well.

Incremental Progress
In a discussion my husband and I had this morning about how things are going at work for him, we talked about the importance of celebrating incremental progress (presumably while waiting for something major and good awaiting us at the end of many more steps to go). This idea is one that isn't new to me and is actually something I've tried to really make more of a priority as a mom and a homeschool teacher.
But sometimes, it's easy to lose track of the incremental progress and just feel so far from that final goal -- even when the big goal is so big it sometimes seems intangible or possibly unobtainable.

Presidential
Happy Presidents' Day!
In honor of our country's leaders (over the years), my sister (visiting from the Northwest), our nieces (born on the west coast), our children (born on the east coast) and I (who can represent various regions across the country based on travel and moves) are coming together from all parts of this great nation to drive to the best doughnut shop in the land (at least locally anyway) and then off to the Explora! museum for fun and learning.
Neither are on the list of important places to visit before we die ... but we think they're pretty special, so yeah.
Hope you're enjoying your holiday with whatever you have planned. Or work. Whatever. :)
P.S. It's always nice having family visit. Gives us an excuse to visit more places locally, don't you think? Someone to show around town and stuff. Love it.

Lots To See
I found a book on clearance yesterday that makes a good addition to our homeschool reference section and it's called 1001 Historic Sites You Must See Before You Die.
You know the kind.

Auditions Followup
I've had several people -- people with very high-hopes for us, I think -- still asking me if we ever heard back after the casting call.
Lots of Prayers
There is always something to pray about and someone to pray for. But just lately, I feel like my prayer list is so long, I can barely keep track. Though my kids are in a pretty good habit of keeping a prayer journal, I'm on again and off again (and currently off), so it gets to a point when I feel overwhelmed trying to remember all the promises I've made to pray for people.

Valentine's Day, 2012
Happy Valentine's Day!
I wanted to share with you a craft the kids and I did today as a gift to our school's principal (Principal Daddy). I was really pleased with how it came out.

It's February 11th, already?!!
Oh. My. Goodness.
I can't catch up with my own life.
I never got Christmas cards out, so I thought, "Hey, I'll just send out Valentine's Cards!" I used a freebie deal I had to order them and they arrived in the mail a week ago. Plenty of time to get them sent in time for Valentine's.

Three Questions
There are some times when J gets so introspective and thoughtful about things, it's hard to remember she's seven. I mean, honestly, she holds her own in the goofy category as well, but sometimes she is just really deep!

Post-Auditions
Okay, so thank you so much for the prayers and for those of you who checked in with us afterwards. I'll try to give you a short version of what happened yesterday.

Off to Auditions
We got word via J's dance studio, that there is an open casting call for a major motion picture being filmed here and in Texas. I really don't have my hopes up that any of our kids will get the part(s), but it seems like fun to give it a try this evening. I'll let you know how it goes later, but if you read this -- say a little prayer for us that all goes smoothly and that none of our kids are wrecked by disappointment if/when they are not chosen.
And above all, God's will be done! If this is what He wants for our family, then let us be able to handle the schedule, pressure, whatever and continue to give all glory to Him.
Thanks!
P.S. No, I have no idea what movie it is yet -- the casting call says, "A Family Movie."
