Just like the subject line says, we had a lizard in the house today. You never know what kind of crazy creature is going to seek out the cool air-conditioned carpet here in the desert. I'm rarely surprised. Crickets are the norm, but this was our first lizard!
I snapped some pictures of him sunning himself by our back patio door before he casually went back outside (we had the door cracked open for Nova to let herself in and out while we ran errands).
It was O who spotted the long, thin fellow and let me know. The kids are well-trained in notifying me about any strange occurrence when my camera might come in handy.
I'm glad Nova didn't find it first!
I would freak out if one of these came into my house!
ReplyDeleteThat's really a beautiful lizard. I wonder what kind it is.
ReplyDeleteGood that the kids don't freak out with visitors like that.
I think it might be a New Mexico Whiptail (our state reptile), but I'm not certain. No, our kids don't freak out with stuff like this. They're too used to me turning it into science or photographic moments.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, I just found this article that makes some of what I wrote in this blog post invalid: Click Here
ReplyDeleteWow! I was used to lizards growing up in Miami, but I'm still not sure I would want one in my house. :)
ReplyDeleteWow, so weird about them always being female!
ReplyDeleteI just read that article you attached about the NM Whiptail Lizards being only female. That is too weird! I'm, also, surprised that other animals reproduce that way!?!
