Springtime is our windy season here in the desert. But it's been fairly windy already, while it's still wintertime. On several of these windy days, I've driven past our local dump en route to one of the schools where I do my weekday pickups and I've felt inspired by what I saw.
On calm days, the fence that surrounds the dump looks like a normal fence. But on the windy days, the fence becomes a canvas ready to catch the colors of the wind. I know it's just trash and stuff people probably should have recycled, but something funny happens in my mind when I see that fence come alive like that.
It makes me smile.
I've told myself over and over that I need to go take a picture of that some time.
Well, yesterday, as I dropped Z off for football practice (also near the dump), the wind was picking up and once again was this beautiful giant canvas, painted by the wind. All I had was my iPhone, but instead of passing it by yet again, I seized the moment, drove up the dirt road that goes behind the dump and got a few pictures.
Beauty in trash, thanks to the wind...
Hey, Pocahontas. I'm glad you took a moment to get some photos...that's one of those things where it's easy to just keep saying, "Later." (I do that all the time.) Cool pictures!
ReplyDeletePS I just noticed your instagram feed on your blog--that's pretty cool! It ends up lining up with the comment box, so it's perfect for people to see when leaving a comment. I think I might add mine.
ReplyDeletePocahantas? No comprendo that reference. I've never seen that Disney film.
ReplyDeleteBut thanks, I think?
Yeah, I figured out how to put the Instagram feed on there all by myself. :) It also lines up when I write long posts and people read all the way to the end. This just happened to be a shorter one.
Haha.. but you've probably heard the song Colors of the Wind. :P
ReplyDeleteI tried but couldn't figure it out! So you're better than me at this blog stuff.
ReplyDeleteI'll have to look that song up. I don't think I'm familiar with it.
ReplyDeleteGo to snapwidget.com to get the code to embed your Instagram feed on your blog. ;-)
Finding beauty in everything! (Even trash) I love it.
ReplyDeleteI think you are to thank for my learning to do that, Mom. :-)
